LaserPeT™

The LaserPeT™ (Laser Profiling Trolley) is a portable, trolley-based measuring system, primarily for use on the underground, and is Laser Rail’s most recent innovation. It has been developed in-house by our Research and Development team and is based on the same principles of operation as the successful Laser Gauging Vehicle (LGV), which has been in operation now for several years. The system uses a fan of laser light to illuminate the infrastructure and high resolution cameras to perform the measurements. The measurement data is stored on-board as composite sections, nominally at 1m intervals (although this may be varied).

The LaserPeT™specification:

Engineered as a complete infrastructure profile measuring instrument having a system accuracy of ± 5mm

• The stored data of composite profiles is fully compatible with ClearRoute™, Laser Rail’s clearance analysis software
• Operated at walking pace, the LaserPeT™takes continuous measurements, ensuring that all trackside infrastructure is recorded
• Modular construction enables the LaserPeT™to the carried via normal pedestrian routes from street level to the track
• Visual records are taken by LaserPeT™in addition to the composite cross sections to aid post-processing of data
• The LaserPeT™is self-contained with battery power sufficient for operation over a full normal Engineering Hours shift.
