LaserSweep™

The LaserSweep™ is a portable, infrastructure profile-measuring system. It is one-man operated and measures discrete points on single sections (perpendicular to the track) of the infrastructure. The measured points may be purposely selected by the operator and/or pre-programmed within the instrument. The LaserSweep™ aligns all infrastructure measurements to the rail gauge corner and may also be used to measure the track cant at each setting.

The LaserSweep™ Specification:
  • Distance range: 0.5m – 30m
  • Distance Accuracy: 2mm (to 2 sd)
  • Angle range: 20 – 340
  • Angle resolution: 0.18 degrees, 0.2 grads
  • Angle Accuracy: 0.09°, 0.1 grad (to 2 sd)
  • Co-ordinate Accuracy: 5mm at 4m distance, 10mm at 9m distance
  • Cant measurement: Accuracy 5mm (to 2 sd)
  • Measuring speed: 1 – 6 seconds per reading depending on surface reflectivity. Approximately 4 minutes for a typical complete profile.
  • Controlled by Bluetooth PC technology for ease of use
  • Totally portable, ideal for work in remote locations or where one-off measurements are required
  • Available with platform nosing mount for immediate measurement of platform edges
  • Available as a trolley-mounted system to increase speed of operation, reduce risk of injury and minimise effort required on track.
  • High powered batteries enable a full 8 hour shift of operation
  • Temperature range: Operating temperature range: -10°C to +50°C
Storage temperature range: -40°C to +70°C
  • All-up weight: Approximately 33kg
Output: The data is produced in a standard format that downloads directly from the computer into all versions of Laser Rail’s gauging software for analysis. Enhancement of the computer will allow basic analysis to be performed on site.
