The primary aim of the project is to assist infrastructure services in market-driven track management to meet growing traffic demands across Europe, in particular:
- Development of a new sensor mounted on a specific adapted railway vehicle to measure the clearance of the railway infrastructure at a speed up to 140 km/h
- Adaptation of a rail wagon into a measuring unit which can be hauled by a commercial train
- Development of a data processing device associated with an expert system to provide “conditional maintenance” programmes
- Development of a simulation tool making it possible to determine clear and safe "European routes", for a given train gauge, across borders.
